Joe Matt
Born in Philadelphia, Joe Matt started out coloring various superhero comics, but his talent and imagination were such that he couldn't keep this up for long. Soon, he began doing his own work, starting with his famous autobiographical album 'Peepshow' in 1987. In 1992, his 'Peepshow' strips were serialized by Kitchen Sink Press under the title 'Peepshow: The Cartoon Diary of Joe Matt'. 'Peepshow' is now being serialized and distributed by Drawn & Quarterly. Simultaneously Matt worked on another autobiographical project: 'The Poor Bastard,' which came out in 1997. In 'The Poor Bastard', Joe Matt is trying to work out his personal problems, concerning art, relationships and porn. In 2002 Drawn & Quarterly published 'Fair Weather', an account of Matt's childhood in Philadelphia.
